The placement rule

One unit per page. On a browse or library page (the explore grid, a listing page, a lesson's overview page) that means a single unit below the content. A signed-in account's home page carries its one unit as a side rail on a wide screen and in the flow on a narrow one: one unit either way, never both.

Inside the lesson reader, it is at most one unit per chapter, set after the chapter's text and its previous/next controls and before the key terms and glossary. Never inside the body of a chapter, and never inside the panel that marks one finished. Turning on focus mode takes it away along with the side rails.

Each ad sits in its own bordered box labelled Advertisement, with a link to your privacy choices beside it.

Who never sees them

Ad-Free Pass owners, members, and organization accounts are never shown ads anywhere on the site, on lessons and everywhere else. That includes every learner in a school or employer account, whatever that learner chose about cookies: no ad is shown, and no ad is even requested.

Nobody sees an ad on their own account pages: profile, progress, saved items, messages, and notifications.

Personalization is off unless you turn it on

If you chose essential only on the cookie notice, or never answered it, any ad is requested in Google's non-personalized mode and sets no advertising cookies. Only if you choose accept may Google use ad cookies to personalize what you see and measure it, under Google's own policy.

The same choice controls the one optional advertising-measurement tag, which stays off until you turn it on, and which still never runs inside a lesson, whatever you chose. Beyond that tag and those ads, Corlova runs no third-party analytics and no cross-site tracking, and unless you opt in to personalized ads, nothing here contributes to an advertising profile of you.

What Google receives when an ad is served

Serving any ad means your browser requests it from Google, which sees your IP address and the address of the page you are on. On a lesson page that address names the lesson and the chapter you are reading, because the reader keeps them in the URL.

We do not send Google our own record of what you read; the ad request does it by existing. That is a real consequence of putting an ad on a lesson page, and we would rather write it down here than let you find it in a network log.

How to remove them

The Ad-Free Pass removes ads from your account permanently: $9.99, once, nothing recurring, on every device you sign in to. Organization accounts never had them, and neither did members.

You never need the pass. It changes nothing about what you can read, run, or finish, and if no ads are showing today, it locks in that your account never sees them, even after they arrive.
